An official informed that three suspected swine flu cases were detected in Dr. R. P. Govt. Medical College Tanda in last one week.
One of them was referred to PGI Chandigarh, another to I.G.M.C. Shimla and third one is admitted in the isolation ward here, his sample has been sent to I.G.M.C. for testing on February 5. There is no information with the MS office or the microbiology department whether the suspected patient is positive or negative.
The hospital sources said that there is no swine flu testing laboratory in Tanda, despite an announcement was made by former Health Minister Rajeev Bindal on December 11, 2009 that swine flu laboratory would be set up at Tanda soon.
The HOD of microbiology department, Dr. Kamlesh Thakur said that the department is providing facility of packing the swine flu sample, its transportation is being provided by the MS office, and the reports are coming to the clinic directly.
Dr. Sood said that an isolation ward is ready for any swine flu case but the testing facility is not available here yet.
