Including tourist resort Manali, snowfall was continue on the high reaches of Himachal Pradesh since overnight and down streams were lashed with light to moderate rain along with thunderstorm, the Met official said.
Manali had 14 cm snowfall, while Keylong in Lahual and Spiti district and Kalpa in Kinnuar district reported 22 cm snowfall each. Pangi, Bharmour, Barlacha, Sach pass, Saluni, high reaches of Chamba and Dhauladhar ranges in Kangra are also experiencing snowfall, Saluni had already recorded 2 cm snowfall. High reaches of Lahual and Spiti like Seven Sisters’s hills, Goshal hills, Lady of Keylong, Rohtang Pass, and Jalori jot, Kinner and Shrikhand Kailash reported heavy snowfall as thick clouds were hovering over these mountain ranges.
Since overnight rain and storm hit down streams like Shimla, Solan, Kangra, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Sirmaur. Dharamshala reported 37.6 mm rainfall and this capital town 11.8 mm.
Since minimum temperature was improved in the state, but with cover of clouds there was a fall in mercury in the night. Kalpa in Kinnaur was coldest in the state with minus 3 degrees followed by Keylong at minus 2.7 degrees, Shimla at 3.6 degrees, and Manali at minus 1.6 degrees.
The Met office issued warning of heavy snowfall in Shimla, Kinnuar, Chamba, Kullu, Lahual and Spiti and Kangra district and heavy rainfall in Solan, Sirmaur, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una and Mandi district in next 24 hours. Rain likely to occur in many parts of the middle hills and plain areas in the state and snowfall on the high reaches, owing to strong western disturbances prevailing in north-west India.
