Himachal Pradesh Congress released it’s party manifesto for the assembly elections to be held on November 04, 2012 assembly elections in which they promised to award free laptops to 10,000 meritorious students of standard 10th and 12th. The party released its manifesto in press conference organized at Peterhoff hotel, Shimla where the Manifesto Committee in charge Anand Sharma, Delhi Chief Minister and HP Ticket distribution Committee president Sheila Dikshit, AICC General Secretary Verinder Chaudary, CLP leader Vidya Stokes, HPCC president Virbhadra Singh and former HPCC president Kaul Singh were present.
Addressing the media persons, Mr. Sharma said that a new scheme by the name of ‘Rajiv Gandhi Digital Student Yojna’ will be implemented under which 10,000 meritorious students in the board examination would be awarded free laptops by the state government. He said that students of 8th standard will be provided learning laptops as incentive to inculcate the spirit of learning, for middle and higher education free bus passes would be provided to students and education loan at the rate of four percent would be made available. He further added that all the middle schools would be equipped with libraries and job oriented training would be provided to the under privileged to create employment avenues for them with an investment of Rs 500 core .
Party also promised to review existing industrial policy by new policy, developing the state as a destination for domestic and foreign investment and promised to provide benefit of industrial package to remote and interior parts. Under the proposed policy industries based on agriculture, horticulture, electricity and mineral resources will be promoted.
