Timber Distribution rights come under the Service Guarantee Act

Replying to a joint query of  Congress member Kaul Singh Thakur (Darang) and Haresh Vardhan( Sheelai), Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that his government was ensuring time bound delivery of Timber distribution to right holders in the state after bringing it under newly enacted State Service Guarantee Act. He also claimed that after intervention of the state government delayed supply of timber wood for fire victims and supply of fuel wood for funeral has been sorted out.

Mr. Dhumal said that new T.D. policy was framed after resolving the matter within the ambit of Himachal High Court order and claimed that people were getting timber wood without any delay for their domestic use and at subsidised rates.

Earlier replying over this query Forest Minister Khimi Ram informed the house that after enforcement of new TD Policy about 366.762 cubic meter timber wood has been  allotted in 15 forest subdivision to the right holders. He said that there  were no pending claims of TD and if anyone has complaints over denying of their rights they could lodge complaint with the Forest Minister.

He also assured that fire victims would get the TD timber wood for their rehabilitation with in one and half month of their application while this right was also being made available to the people living in the urban areas. He said that for right holders below poverty line,  Deodar sleeper of 10 ft length will cost Rs 339 per log while right holders above poverty line can purchase it after paying Rs 717.
