108 celebrates 1 year of operations with first aid workshop

Shimla: Workshop to commemorate one year of operations of Free Emergency Response Ambulance Service, 108, a workshop on first aid was conducted in meeting hall of Civil Hospital Palampur. Operations Executive Tarun Sikka stated that service is running successfully without any interruption, credit for which goes to dedicated & committed team of emergency medical technicians & pilots.

District AIDS Programme Officer R. K. Sood shared that in the past year 88522 persons have benefited from this free service in the state of which 1/5th were pregnant women. EMT Harsh Nag briefed the participants on the right approach for snake bite .i.e. Re-aasure, immobilise, go to hospital, tell the doctor, about symptoms. He added that for dog bite, the first aid is to wash the wound with soap & water. Elaborating on the medical emergency of epilepsy, he emphasized the Importance of proper first aid. Dr. Jaydesh Rana also added about proper treatment compliance in non-communicable diseases like hypertension and diabetes. Over sixty health care staff and public representatives participated in the workshop.
