Shimla, Nov 29: As many as 120253 electors will exercise their franchise in by-polls, beginning tomorrow. It will decide the fate of five candidates in fray for two assembly segments .i.e. Renuka (reserve) in Sirmour district and Nalagarh in Solan district. The voting will begin tomorrow and the results will be declared on 4th December, 2011.
According to state chief electoral officer Narinder Chauhan, all arrangements have been completed for the polls in which six companies of ITBP would ensure peaceful and fair polls. Also, 800 security personnel and 300 election officers will take part in the electioneering. He further said that out of total 1,20,253 electors, 63781 male electors and 56472 female electors would exercise their franchise, including 990 male service electors and 298 female service electors in Nalagarh and Renuka assembly constituencies respectively. As many as 194 nonagenarian are likely to take part in the by-polls. Nalagarh Assembly Constituency has total 67,780 electors including 66770 general electors and 1010 service electors. Renuka assembly constituency has total 52473 electors out of which 52195 are general electors and 278 service electors.
Renuka reserve assembly segment fell vacant due to recent demise of seating MLA Prem Singh and his son Venay Kumar has been fielded as congress candidate against BJP’s Herdya Ram. Nalagarh seat was laying vaccant due to death of Party MLA Harinarayan Singh Sani and his widow Gurnam Kaur is in the fray for BJP against Lokhvainder Rana of Congress.
