5 killed, 2 injured in road mishaps

Dharamshala (Nov 10)  Five people were killed and two others were injured in four different road accidents in Kangra valley during the last 24 hours, police said here today.

Kangra District Police Chief Deljeet Singh Thakur said one Manoj Kumar(14), a class IX student and resident of village Kachiari was hit by a private bus near the Jayanti Mata temple track and fell down in Manji Khad and died on the spot.
The SSP said Manoj had gone to Jayanti Mata Temple in connection with Panch Bishem on the last day of the festival with a friend Rustum. They both were on way back to home when the incident occurred.

Kangra Police said the investigation in this hit and run case was under progress following registration of a case under Section 304 A, 279, 337 IPC and 184 MV Act. Police said body was recovered from the khad and sent for the postmortem which would be conducted tomorrow and would be handed over to his parents for last rites after the postmortem.

Meanwhile two persons were killed on the spot at village Chandua falling under Haripur Police station of Dehra subdivision yesterday when a tractor rolled down in to gorge.   Police said the ill-fated tractor was on way to Harchaikian when the accident took place while descending a steep road and the driver lost control on the vehicle. The deceased were identified as Sher Singh resident of Umari district Bhind of Madaya Pradesh, driver of the tractor and Dinesh Kumar resident of Luhar MP.  In this connection case under Section 279,337 and 304 A has been registered.

A youth was killed in another accident when a motor cycle on which he was a pillion rider dashed against a private bus at Tanda Road near Milk Plant. The victim was identified as Sachin who succumbed to his injuries in DRPGMC Tanda where he was rushed for treatment after the accident. Police registered a case under section 304 A and 279 IPC against driver of the motor cycle Abhinav who was also injured in the accident.

A bakery shop worker was killed in another hit and run case at Dhameta yesterday. Surjeet Kumar, hit by an unknown vehicle succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
