Shimla: Zuzana Sulcova, who had got stuck at a inaccessible and isolated hill above Yacha village in Lahaul valley while paragliding on Monday afternoon, was rescued by a police team on Tuesday evening.
“She has a injury in knee and a bit scared but she is safe and sound and is being taken to the Keylong hospital” said Vimal Gupta, SP Lahaul while speaking with HimVani.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Keylong, Khajana Ram, who led the 15 member police team for rescue operation, said it took five hours to rescue the foreigner as the spot was on a hill, located at 4000 metres height from the village.
Zuzana had taken off from Keylong in her paraglider on Monday along with a foreigner friend. While her friend, landed in a village around Darcha, 32 kilometres from Lahaul Spiti headquarters, Keylong. She couldn’t land at a proper place and got stuck over a hill on Yacha village, which is 15 kilometres across a gauge from Darcha. Zuzana’s friend, who had come back to Keylong on Monday night informed the local police, following which a search party was sent to the spot on Tuesday morning.
It is worth mentioning that in last two months, the Lahaul police has done two tough rescues. On August 14, the cops led by the Superitendant of Police Vimal Gupta had saved seven lives at an accident site of a cultural troupe from Leh in which 15 persons were killed.
I am a boyfriend of zuzana sulcova and I am wery unheapy to read that. Police did nothing to rescue her, all rescue operation was done by me, my slovakian friends and local mountanering club. When zuzka woke up, she sand mesage to me via satelite mesenger(spot) and then we found here thanks to gps and radio.I had to organized jeep and people and pay for that. POLICE just stay down in jeep and drink tea and specialy senior oficer Khajana Ram stayed in vilage of Darcha in Tea shop and wait just to werite a protocol. Thepolice in the and when we had to go to diferent hospital in Kulu to se orthopedic doctor tok from us xrays that Zuzka had to go again under radiation check of xray in Kullu. Just horible,
Pavel Valasek if you are right, it is indeed shocking. When we made contact with police they claimed that you were already in the hotel of your camp when zuzana sulcova were waiting assistance in the land lock hills. The matter would be taken up with higher police authority. But it was also your fault that you para-gliding venture was risky to lives of team and Thanks God that Zuzana Sulcova survived in the emergency landing at odd place. Number of par-gliders have been lost their life as it is not easy to rescue or respond quickly in the rough terrain.
How do you thing that police cud fined Zuzana in dificult terein, when they do not have gps resiver. When she send sos mesage thru satelite, the only people how know where she is was me, that why I usked lokal mountain club to healp me to pick her up, but bicose the mether of missing people we had to contact the police. And I am very sory that police took the glory of rescue from local mountaniering club, just usk thems leader mr Nawang Chhering.Police realy did nothing to healp us. I know that paragliding is risky, but in numbers of exident is not diferent from mountaniering or treking. Somebody likes fast driving and I belive he is more danger to other people then us, who just love free flying in high himalayas. I have to mention, that zuzka was with me last year, when we did first crosing ever from Bir to Keylong over Kugti pass and meny more flyghts in this area, she is very experienc pilot. Exident cud heapend to enybody. We will try to write all story later on when she gets litle bit beter. I do all this just becos I do not like people who says lies. Pavel Valasek
It seems that beat police officer did not inform their senior that You had some role to save zuzana sulcov. but now concerned police chief of Lahaul Spiti district has been apprised about the matter. Hope Zuzana sulcov recover soon. You perhaps missed World para gliding championships under going at Bir from today. Please let me know if any of your team is their. We would like to file story
