HC direct Union government to decide on prosecution of IAS officer

Shimla (Sept 27): Himachal Pradesh High Court today directed the department of personnel, government of India, and the disciplinary authority to complete the process of consideration on the proposal of the state government to grant prosecution sanction against IAS officer Sanjay Gupta, and to take a decision within 10 days whether disciplinary action was to be initiated against him or not.

The division bench comprising Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Sanjay Karol also directed the chief secretary to file an affidavit on or before October 10 on such decision. The court also directed the special judges of Kinnaur, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, forests (Shimla), Chamba, Kangra and Sirmaur to pass final orders on or before December 31 in the total 13 cases pending in their courts, where the police have filed cancellation reports.
