Shimla (Sept 23): Six-time Congress legislator from Himachal Pradesh’s Renuka constituency Prem Singh died this morning following massive heart attack, family members said.
He was 63. The cremation would take place in Dadahu village in Sirmaur district, some 70 km from district headquarters Nahan, Friday evening.
“He suffered a heart attack at around 7 am at his residence (in Maina Rajna village) and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead,” his family said.
Dr. Singh, a former chief parliamentary secretary in the previous Congress government from 2003 to 2007, was active in politics. He contested all the assembly election from Renuka (reserved) constituency.
State Congress chief Kaul Singh expressed grief over his death. This is the second death of a legislator in the state in less than three months.
In June, three-time Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Nalagarh constituency H.N. Saini died after prolonged illness.
