Monsoon weakens in Himachal

Shimla (Sept 17): The Monsoon today suddenly appeared to have made a hasty retreat and entered in weak trough, which is likely to create dry weather conditions in the coming week even as the Met office forecast rain or thundershowers at isolated places owing to western Disturbances.

The Met office weather bulletin said that WD has moved away eastwards while axis of its trough at mean sea level runs close to the foot hills of western Himalayan region. Light to moderate weather conditions prevailed in the state during last 24 hours but it was bright sunshine in the day and weather was partly cloudy in the afternoon.

In Kangra district Nurpur had highest 73 mm rain followed by Saloni in Chamba 53 mm, Una 24.6 mm, Gohar in Mandi & Udaipur in Lahaul Spiti 23 mm each, Hamirpur & Manali in Kullu 22 mm each, Kangra 21 mm, Baijnath and Bhuntar in Kullu 20 mm each.

The minimum temperature of Keylong and Kalpa was 9 degree Celsius, Shimla 14 degrees, Bhuntar 15.6 degrees, Solan 16 degrees, Dharamshala 16.3 degrees, Sundernagar 18.8 degrees, Una 21.5 degrees, Mandi 21d egrees, Nahan 22 degrees.

Maximum temperature of Kalpa was 22 degrees, Shimla 24 degrees, Dharamshala 26.8 degrees, Nahan 27 degrees, Solan 28 degrees, Sundernagar 30.9 degrees, Bhuntar 31 degrees and Una 32.6 degrees, respectively.
