Monkey leaves 10 with bite injuries in Shimla

Shimla (Sep 8): As many as ten people have been left with bite injuries by a monkey in Tutikandi, Nabha and Phagli areas of this capital town in the last three days, even as wifelife authority are still finding it difficult to catch it.

While talking to HimVani, district wildlife warden and DFO RK Raj said that a team was tracing the nutty simian which is still evading the wildlife staff. He said that a wildlife team led by range officer Sukhdev Sharma is camping in the panic stricken locality and traps have been laid at several places to catch the monkey.

Shimla MC counsellor from the area Garav  Sharma said that three people were wounded by the monkey early this morning at Phagli. He said that five persons have been reported injured at Nabha by the same monkey while two people were reported injured in Tutikandi Local MLA Suresh Bhardwaj expressed concern over the incidents and asked the officials to control monkey menace.

According to a report, the state witnessed more than 190 animal bites in last six months including by bears, leopards, monkeys, wild boars and stray dogs.
