7 killed in Sirmaur mishap

Nahan (Sept 5): Seven people, including three women, were killed and two others injured when a vehicle carrying them fell into Giri river near Ghanorhipul, on Renuka-Haripurdhar road in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh this morning, police officials confirmed.

SP Sirmaur Puneeta Bhardwaj told HimVni that seven persons died on the spot as the ill fated Maruti van fell into the Giri river early this morning, while two injured were admitted to Dadahu Hospital. Deceased include Naradev (34) and his wife Poonam (27) their 4-month-old son Suraj, Nardev’s sister Suman (45) and her daughters Sheetal (23) and Ranjana(21) and driver Jagdeep Thakur(42). The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
