Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government is slowly awakening to the cultural heritage the state inherited from legendary painter Sardar Sobha Singh. Following an announcement to revive Sobha Singh awards, now the state plans to celebrate Sobha Singh Art Festival every year. The week-long festival will begin on November 29, the birth anniversary of the renowned painter.
It may be mentioned that Sardar Sobha Singh had spent around 35 years of his life at Andreta, a small village near Palampur, which has now become an important centre of learning for art lovers.
The festival would be organized by the tourism department, and the main functions will be held at the Sobha Singh Museum at Panchrukhi. Various art and craft event will be held as part of the festival, with special focus on folk art.
