Former Justice AL Vaidya dies

Mandi (Aug 17): Justice AL Vaidya (retd) died at Fortis Hospital in Mohali near Chandigarh last evening. He was 75. Justice Vaidya was unwell for the last over two years. He was rushed to Fortis last week when his condition worsened.

Born on October 3, 1936, in a reputed family of Mandi, Vaidya did his law and practiced in the district courts here for ten years. Later he joined judicial service in 1970. After serving as secretary, law and legal remembrancer, he was promoted to higher judicial service and made additional judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court in 1993 and a permanent judge in 1995.

PWD minister Thakur Gulab Singh, former minister Pt Gauri Prasad, freedom fightear Padam Nabh and PCCC chief Thakur Kaul Singh have expressed deep condolence on the sad demise of Justice Vaidya.
