Temple ornaments stolen in Balh

Mandi (July 28): Ornaments worth over Rs 15 lakh were stolen last night from the temple of Hateshwari Mata in Balh Valley, about 21 kms from here, said SP Mandi PD Prasad, here today.

According to the statement of the temple pujari to police, everything was in
order and all the doors of the temples were locked at 1.30 in the night when he went to bed. “When I got up at 4 AM the door of my room was bolted from outside. To my great surprise, all the locks were broken and entire jewellery of the goddess was missing.” said temple priest Khem Chand. Police registered a case under sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code and investigations are in progress, said the SP. Hateshwari Temple was built by Raja Ban Sen of Mandi during the tenth century.
