Manali-Leh road restored

Shimla (July 27): The Manali-Leh highway, that remained closed for last two days, was restored for traffic by Border Roads Organisation today after removing boulders from the road at Rahni Nalah, an official of Kullu district administration said. Meanwhile, Monsoon rains, that paralysed life in Himachal Pradesh for last three days , gave some respite as sun was spotted for few hours in almost the entire state.

The Met office said that light rain showers occurred during last 24 hours as Tissa in Chamba recorded 25 mm, Paonta in Sirmaur 22 mm, Shimla 17mm, Solan 15 mm, Nahan 13 mm and tourist resort Kasauli had 7mm rain. Minimum temperature at Shimla was 16 degree Celsius, Sundernagar, Mandi, Palampur of Kangra and Bhuntar in Kullu 21 degrees each, Kalpa 13.7 degrees, Dharamshala 17.5 degrees, Una 24.3 degrees, Nahan 23.6 degrees and Solan 19.2 degrees. The Met office said that rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in the state during next 24 hours.
