Mandi: Nearly 100 students of government primary school, Bhangrotu, were rescued by people of the surrounding villages when the premises of the school were inundated by the nearby flooded rivulet.
The villagers last evening rescued children stranded in knee-deep water. Rescuig them took three hours. Parents of the students lamented that that neither the district authorities nor the education department did anything despite several telephone calls. They particularly decried the callous attitude of the office of the Deputy Director Primary Education, located at a distance of 18 km from the school. When told that there was a risk to the life of over 100 students, they did not take it seriously and said the deputy director was engaged in making preparation for the scheduled visit of the education minister tomorrow.
