Keylong (July 12): Indo-Tibet Boarder Police would vtake up Rishikash to Gangasagar rafting expedition shortly to show its valour and strength in dealing with adverse weather and natural conditions, a senior official of the paramilitary force disclosed here.
Addressing a massive congregation here organized by Press Information Bureau(PIB), Shimla, deputy commandant of ITBP, DKS Rawat, said that
Nanak Chand would lead the rafting expedition, which will start from its
special center at Rishikash and culminate at Ganangasagar in
West Bengal. He disclosed that ITBP tracker Prem Singh, belonging to Lahaul Spiti district, has brought name to this tribal district by climbing thrice
of the world’s highest peaks.
ITBP has been given the responsibility to take care life threatening
snow mountainious border ranges span in 10000 to 18000 ft high
altitude with help of tracking, skiing, rafting and paragliding
activities make it capable to secured Indio-Tibet boarder while rest
of international post was being look after by BSF. ITBP lock after
more than 1000 km long Indio-Tibetan Korpurm to Myanmar boarder, he
added.
The force was founded in 1962 after the bitter experience on Indo-Sino border on the recommendations of Rustamji Committee report. Until 1972 ITBP was known for its gorilla warfare but after this its activity was widened by making it full-fledged force/
