HP cabinet to convene assembly monsoon session from August 23

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today decided to recommend to speaker Tulsi Ram to convene the monsoon session of the state assembly from August 23 to 30 , 2011.

Crucial bills about Right to Service and a bill for attaching properties acquired through corrupt means are expected to be tabled in the monsoon session. State government had committed in the last session that property acquired through corrupt means would be confiscated, but now government has turned this down, as it is against the law. However, it is now bringing the bill to attach the properties. The Right to Service bill is intended to ensure delivery of certain state services within a stipulated time frame. The joint assembly committee constituted during last budget session to probe into the violation of Himachal Pradesh Apartment Act is expected to present its report in the coming session. The committee is also being entrusted to give recommendations to repeal, continue or amend this act.
