Shimla: Syria has shown keen interest in sending its students to Himachal Pradesh University to join professional courses. It would also like to enroll its students in the distance learning programmes of the university.

Prof. A.D.N. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, had a meeting with Ambassador of Syria to India Dr. Riad Kamel Abbas in New Delhi on Tuesday and discussed a number of issues of mutual interest including cooperation in the field of higher education and culture. Dr. Abbas was interested in sending some Syrian students to Shimla to join some professional courses like management, law and information technology in the university. He also said that to strengthen the age old cultural ties between Syria and India, cultural exchange programmes can play a vital role. Dr. Abbas was of the opinion that a cultural troop from Himachal should visit Damascus and vice-versa. Vice Chancellor invited him for the inaugural function of H. P. University’s foundation day function on 22nd July as the guest of honour.
