Gandhian Subha Rao inaugurates blood donation camp

Shimla: Noted Gandhian social activist Dr. Subba Rao said that voluntary blood donation can play a vital role in strengthening the national unity of the country. While inaugurating a blood donation camp on 3rd July, organized by Umang Foundation, a Shimla based public welfare trust, he said the youth should be sensitized and involved in social cause. As many as 105 persons donated blood to support the children with Thalassemia and other patients.

Dr. Subba Rao was here in connection with a programme in Gaiety Theatre. He said “A strong mass movement to serve the needy and poor is the need of the hour. Youth of the country is the real strength of our society.” He said that when a person donates blood, he or she not only saves the life of a patient but also strengthens the national unity integrity. The artificial barriers of caste, creed, religion or region could be demolished through voluntary blood donation, he added. He appreciated the efforts of Umang Foundation in serving the humanity. A large number of his young followers came from 25 states also donated blood in the camp. Ajai Srivastava, Chairman of Umang Foundation, said that it was a historic moment in the history of blood donation movement as people from more than 20 states donated blood in one camp. Justice Sanjay Karol of Himachal Pradesh High Court also donated blood in the camp.
