Bridge washed away by rain in Sirmour

Nahan: One bridge was washed away at Kotli Bias area and 12 link roads were blocked as heavy rain lashed the entire Sirmour district during last 24 hrs. 100 bigha land under paddy cultivation was also washed by  rain at Gulabgarh village.

On the other hand, Rampur Baharapur village became an island as rainwater logged in the village from two rivulets. There are reports that arable land has been washed by rain water in Sainwala panchayat under Paonta Tehsil of Sirmour district due to continuous rains since early morning. Tehsildar Nahan B.S. Garg said that one Kachha house collapsed at Katora village, causing a loss of Rs 10,000 and a pucca house collapsed at Vayogi village, causing loss of Rs 1,50000. There is report that a cowshed was also damaged, causing loss of Rs. 10000. He said that district administration is preparing an estimate to assess the damage caused by rain in the area, which would be sent to the government for issuing sufficient compensation to affected families.

The major roads blocked in the district include Nahan-Paonta, Nahan-Renuka, Nahan-Bhanog, Nahan-Bhaneri, Nahan-Mahipur, Bikrambag, Ramadhaun, Rampur- Bharapur, Karmapapri, Katola, Jamta and NH 72 from Kala-Amb to Paonta Sahib.
