Mandi: The ongoing rivalry between the two warring factions within the Congress party in Himachal Pradesh lead by Union Minister Virbhadra Singh and PCC Chief Thakur Kaul Singh assumed chaotic proportions last evening at Sandhol when the supporters of rival factions resorted to kicks and blows.

The meeting had been called in connection with Congress wing of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchyati Raj Organisation. The stage in charge received head injury while clothes of many were torn. Thakur Kaul Singh and Mandi MLA Anil Sharma, who were also scheduled to join the meeting, could not attend it. The high drama continued in the presence of President District Congress Committee Puran Chand, National In-Charge Panchayati Raj Institutions K.K. Sharma and State President Panchayati Raj Ranjit Singh Verma who silently watched the ugly scene.

The Block Congress Committee alleged that the meeting had been called without taking them into confidence. Meanwhile, PCC Chief Thakur Kaul Sihgh had to rush to Chandigarh on urgent work and has taken a serious view of what happened in the meeting. He has sought a report and has cautioned party workers against hooliganism.
