Dharamshala (June 17): Social activist AB Rajbansh has sought action from the National Commission for Women against mobile companies for circulating obscene messages and clippings through mobile messages and mobile internet.

Rajbansh, in a letter to the Commission, prayed that BSNL, Airtel, Aircell, Vodafone, Tata and Reliance mobile companies were allegedly circulating unwanted and obscene messages on mobile sets, thereby eroding the cultural ethics of Indian society in general, and women and children consumers of these companies in particular.

He, in the letter, alleged that 70 lakh mobile consumers in Himachal Pradesh were being put to unwanted harassment by such messages and obscene clippings being carried through mobile internet. He sought the intervention of the Commission to direct the companies concerned to stop forthwith such messages in order to protect the erosion of the cultural ethics of the society and
relieve women and children from continuous harassment.
