Shimla (Jun 10): State Unit of CPI(M) has expressed deep anguish and shock at the report with respect to inspection of private universities carried out at the behest of the state government and giving them a clean chit.
Tikender Singh Panwar, party state secretariat member, said in a statement issued here today that as has been reported in media that the committee that carried out inspection in private universities in the state failed to check into the details and instead gave a green signal on just single variable of a ‘check list’ to compile their reports, which goes against the basic spirit of inspection.
The CPIM has stated, “This exercise has become just an eyewash to hoodwink the people of the state who in large number stood against the opening of these universities on several counts. Very concrete examples had been thrown to light by the people of the state where it was been shown that students were enrolled without their physical presence in the institution and simultaneously they were being employed somewhere else.”
The CPIM has termed the report as totally unidirectional and in the interests of private universities. The CPIM has also asked the
government to make it public as to how many inspections were carried out and also the kind of protocol facilities that were offered to the team visiting these universities.
The entire exercise, the CPIM has stated, smacks of deep-rooted connivance of these university managements with the government officials who conducted such a dubious inquiry. The CPIM has asked the government to stop this hoodwinking and spell out a clear policy in the interests of the people of the state.
