Shimla (Jun 9): Making fresh attacks on the ruling BJP, the opposition Congress party today demanded amendment in the land laws of Himachal Pradesh.

Accusing the state government of giving land to non-Himachalis at throwaway prices, Mukesh Agnihotri in a press conference said the spirit of Section 118 of Land Tenancy Act was defeated by the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. Raising question over land given to various universities, Agnihotri further alleged that the government has given government land to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) for free, which is a commercial organisation.

Commenting on the irregularities in sanctioning of a housing project being executed by Bamloei Builders, Agnihotri said Congress would take the fight against irregularities to its logical end. “The manner in which the Municipal Corporation gave sanction to a non-Himachali for a housing project indicates at irregularities being
committed by authorities,” Agnihotri said.
