Shimla: After successfully holding a Pad Yatra recently forcing the government to agree to some of their demands, the Ekal Nari Shakti Sangathan (ENSS) has now decided to approach the government for preparation of a status report on the condition and number of single women in Himachal Pradesh. Till now there has been no formal survey by the government for identification of single women, which includes deserted, widowed and unmarried over the age of 40.
After the government announced facilities of ration card and free medical treatment for single women in the state, the ENSS is exploring the ways in which the same can be implemented and streamlined.
State Coordinator of Ekal Nari Shakti Sangathan Nirmal Chandel said, “There are at least 6,000 women enrolled with the body. Now the problem is also to be addressed in the urban areas, where due to society pressures women do not openly voice their problems. If the government takes the charge of conducting a survey through its agencies, majority of the cases can be covered”.
Nirmal said that earlier several demands were raised to prepare a vulnerability index for single women so that procedural wrangles are removed for effective implementation of the scheme, but nothing was done.

Thanks for the forum Ekal Nari Shakti Sangathan (ENSS), where womens are being recognized.
May I request Mr. Chandel, is there any representative in Joginder Nagar, so that single women can enroll themselves.
It is rightly said that women do not openly voice their problems. Even if they seek any justice, they are not given.
They are being harassed by their own family members (distant relative/ brother in Law/’daivar’’ etc..etc…).
Not even spared by village Pradhan too.
A similar case of WIDOWED –KAMLA DEVI, W/O LATE MAN SINGH R/O SANAN, PO: JHAMERH, JOGINDER NAGAR, MANDI (HP), WHO IS being harassed by her distant relative, Mr. Swaminand and Ishwar Dass , and being threatened by them- to kill.
Mr. Swaninand who works in SDM office in Joginder Nagar, removes the letters which are being sent by her for justice.
MAHILA AYOG NEVER bother to CARE FOR SUCH vulnerable cases seriously .
Justice at Panchayat level is being dismissed by the MR. JAIDEV SHARMA –PRADHAN, GRAM PANCHYAT DHAR (CHAUNTRA BLOCK, JOGINDER NAGAR)
THERE IS NO WAY FOR THE POOR WIDOW NOW- TO HOPE FOR THE JUSTICE.
Government of Himachal should definitely come with the strict action against the harassment against SINGLE WIDOW WOMEN
