Three days international conference at IIAS



Shimla: The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) along with the School of Advanced Study (SAS), University of London and South Asian Studies Council, MacMillan Centre and Yale University is organizing a conference on “Changes in Caste Hierarchies in Rural India and their Political Implications” on 01-03 June 2011.

According to spokesman of IIAS, the inaugural session of the Conference would start at 9.30 a.m. on 1 June 2011. Chairman of the IIAS and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Professor B.L. Mungekar would inaugurate the conference. The Indian Institute of Advanced Study in association with Oxford University Press has recently published a book – Diversities in The Indian Diaspora: Nature, Implications, Responses, edited by N. Jayaram. The book will be launched on 1 June 2011 at 7.30 p.m. in the pool theatre. Chair, South Asian Studies Council, Yale University, New Haven Professor K. Sivaramakrishnan has kindly consented to release the book.
