Center releases additional PDS quota for Himachal

Shimla (May 26): Himachal Pradesh food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister Ramesh Dhawala said here today that the Centre has released additional quota of 82,831 MT of cereals to Himachal Pradesh which include 63,128 MT to APL families and 19,708 MT to BPL respectively.

Dhawala said that the government of India had allocated additional quota of 10,997 MT flour and 52,131 MT rice for APL category from January, 2011 to June, 2011. Similarly, 11,258 MT flour and 8,450 MT rice were allocated for the BPL/Antodaya category. He, however, termed it not enough to state demand and alleged that government has cut down the state quota.
