Shimla (May 24): Taking notice of news items appeared in media regarding irregularity in land allotment for eco-tourism projects, , Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has sought a report from the Chief Conservator of Forest (Eco-tourism) in this regard.

To counter the allegation being levelled on the tourism department, Dhumal has asked the concerned officer to submit him detailed report on how much land has been given to each eco-project and whether the same is clearly mentioned in the documents entered into between the parties.

The Chief Minister has further directed that if there was any violation by the promoters, steps should be taken to undo the same, including cancellation of the allotted sites as warranted in each case. Opposition parties in the state have been levelling charge on the state government of facilitating allotment of eco-tourism project to some hand-picked businessman, which was being done keeping the norms and rules at bay. Congress state president Kaul Singh Thakur had raised the matter on the floor of the house during the last Budget session demanding a probe.
