Judges should maintain public trust in judicial system: Justice Misra

Shimla (May 23): Judiciary has a dynamic role in the society and it is the sole duty of judges to maintain and uphold public trust in judicial system. Justice RB Misra of Himachal Pradesh High Court stated this here today during his inaugural address in a five-day advance course for district & session judges, additional district judges and fast track court, organized by HP State Judicial Academy. As many as 18 DJs, ADJs and POs of FTC from over the state are participating in this training course.

Justice Misra asked the judges to instill in them the qualities of being calm, cool, amicable, caucious, aware and dilligent so as to find truth while dispensation of judgement. He said ignorance has to be reocred by updating themselves with latest judgements and also be enlighten other fellow officers. He said humility in judges was must, not arrogance. He said learning and acquiring knowledge was not everything but utilizing skills for the welfare of society was most important.

Justice Deepak Gupta stressed upon the fact that judges should come up with open and inquisitive mind should maintain consistency in giving judgement. He said no person in any field could be perfect, hence the new & different ideas were open to borrow. He said corruption had engripped the society and people cooperation was needed to get rid of it. He said any kind of corruption would not be tolerated in judiciary. He stressed the need of speedy disposal of cases.
