Shimla (May 20): Dr ADN Bajpai will be the new vice-chancellor of Himachal 
Pradesh University, replacing Dr SK Gupta, who formally completed his tenure on 9 April, 2010.
Dr Bajpai was heading the Post-Graduate Department of Economics at Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur, in Madhya Pradesh. He has authored two books, and has been remained on the panel of several national and state-level bodies, including expert Member of Scientific and Technical Terminology Commission.
He was member of International Association of Energy Economists, Indian Economic Association, Indian Society of Labour Economics, and MP Economic Association. Dr
Bajpai has about 70 papers to his credit and specialises in economics of infrastructure, energy and environment.
As many as 55 aspirants were in race for the post. Outgoing VC Dr SK Gupta was also in the race for a second term.
