Shimla (May 14): Taking into account that some of state-run PSUs failed to pay salaries and retirement benefits to their employees, the Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to find out how these corporations incurred huge losses over the years.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice VK Ahuja were hearing a petition filed by some retired employees of HP Agro Industries Corporation Ltd wherein they had complained that their retirement benefits had not been paid. Directing the government to look into the matter, the bench said that if a corporation had been passing through financial crisis for over 10 years, then the government should contemplate as to whether such a body was needed.

The bench directed HP Agro Industries Corporation to take quick steps to dispose off the property as permitted by the government and settle the dues of the retired and serving employees.
