Shimla (May 12): Agitated over Rahul Gandhi’s arrest in Greater Noida yesterday, about 20 activists of NSUI today burnt the effigy of UP Chief Minister Mayawati, showing resentment against arrest of their leader.
The NSUI activists gathered at 2.30 pm near the deputy commissioner’s office here lauding slogans against Mayawati, carrying her effigy with them. Protesters later torched the effigy amid shouting of slogans.
Talking to Media persons, NSUI state general secretary Yadhupati Thakur alleged that the UP Chief Minister is crushing the peaceful agitation being staged by farmers, which was being actively supported by Youth Congress leader and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
