Foreigner committed suicide near Karmapa monastery

Dharamshala (May 11): A 35-year-old woman from Taiwani was today found hanging from a ceiling fan, under
mysterious circumstances, in her rented room near Guyto Tantric Monastery in Sidhpur near here, which is home to the Karmapa.

Kanga district additional police chief Sanjeev Gandhi said that the woman was identified as Tseng Jai Jairom from Taiwan who was here on tourist visa. She had arrived in India on March 24 this year and was scheduled to go back in
September, police said. ASP Gandhi said she was a follower of the Karmapa and was studying in Guyto monastery.

Gandhi said that today the house owners got suspicious after Tseng didn’t come out of her room till late afternoon and got no response when the door was knocked, after which they informed the police. Police broke open the door of the room and found her hanging from the ceiling fan.

ASP Gandhi said that prima fascia it was a suicide case, however, the exact cause of the death would be established only after the post-mortem report was received.
