PWD employees to be paid Rs 95 cr arrears

Dharamsala: The Supreme Court has ordered the Himachal Pradesh government to pay all arrears due to thousands of employees in the Public Works Department. The government will have to bear a financial burden of about Rs 95 crore for this. Deciding the case, the apex court asked the government to clear the dues by March 25.
Half the amount will have to be paid in cash while the rest will be credited to GPF accounts of employees. The amount will be due to all employees who were regularized after a long period. Also, all employees having completed eight years of service will have to be regularized.
