Dharamsala: The 25-megawatt Multhan hydel power project, which is the largest power project proposed to be set up in Kangra district, is finally set for a take-off. Following opposition from villagers, the district administration and the state Pollution Control Board held a public hearing during which the company executing the project committed to spend Rs 2 crore on the area though the Local Area Development Authority. The project has been opposed by villagers ever since it was proposed as they claimed that it would disturb the ecological balance in the area. Before agreeing to the proposal, villagers also demanded that the company should maintain roads, water sources and other resources in the area.
