HPU VC resigns

Shimla: In a surprise decision, Himachal Pradesh University Vice-chancellor Anil Wilson today submitted his resignation to Governor VS Kokje stating personal reasons.
Wilson is reported to have said certain things on the personal front were demand greater attention which could have prevented him form devoting much time to the university.
He had a thirteen-an-a-half months tenure at his alma mater, during which he took decisions like like introduction of internal assessment at the post graduate level that encouraged better attendance in classes and introduction of marks system for recruitment of teachers to the university.
With his resignation, the search for the new VC has also started. Professor CL Gupta, who retired from Hindi department of Himachal Pradesh University and was Chairman of HP. School Education Board during previous BJP government, is said to be among the top contenders.
