Five die in separate road accidents in Mandi distt

Shimla (May 5): Five persons died and three others were injured in three different road accidents that occurred in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, police source said today.

In the first case, a truck (HP24-6522) hit motorcycles borne (HP31A-3379) and (HP33B-3733) injuring five persons near Sundernagar. While two youths died on way to hospital, three were admitted to Sundernagar Hospital. The deceased were identified as Pankaj Thakur (20) of Katwala village of Mandi and Amit (21) of Gagret area of Kangra district. Both were students of Sundernagar College.

In the second incident, a Volvo bus (UP30T-0787) was hit by a rashly driven truck (HP24A-1185) near Kangoo this morning, killed one Nirnjana (17), D/O Manni Vannan, R/O AI-304, Lotus Srivastva Garden, MTP Road, Thudiyalpur, Tami Nadu. The errant driver of the truck managed to flee from the spot after the accident.

Two teenaged students of a private engineering college died in an accident near Sundernagar at Naulakha, 15 km from here last night. Police said the students, who were identified as Ankit (19) of Baijnath and Himanshu Dogra of Nagrota, were on their motorbike when some unidentified vehicle hit them. College authorities said both the boys had sought permission to go out to attend a marriage.
