Shimla (Apr 28): Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Tulsi Ram today constituted a seven-member Joint Assembly Committee (JVC) to review Himachal Pradesh Apartment and Property Regulation Act, 2005.
After receiving complaints of violations in the state, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal had assured during the recent Budget session that the government was ready to form a JAC to review the Act so that it could be amended or repealed. Issuing notifications in this regard on April 27, the Speaker said that a seven-member joint committee comprising four members from BJP, two from Congress and one independent has been formed.
The JAC would be chaired by BJP MLA from Shimla Suresh Bhardwaj, and the other member would be Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu (Cong), Vipan Singh Parmar (BJP) Rakesh Pathania (Ind but pro-government), Randhir Sharma (BJP), Nikhil Rajur(Cong) and Bal Krishan Chauhan (BJP). HP Vidhan Sabha secretary Goverdhan Singh said in a press statement released here today that JAC would be bound to submit its report in next session of the assembly.
During the last budget session held here from February 28 to April 8, 2011, Opposition parties in the state alleged that the government put limited land resources on sale for outsiders. However, Dhumal had accused the previous Congress government alleged that a number of land deals took place and were facilitated before the BJP came to power.
