Shimla: State government spokesman said in a statement issued here today that it would link all gram panchayats with broad-band internet facility before equipping them with computers and power connections to divide the communication gap between different parts of the state.
He said that every panchayat would have to make their own panchayat e-mail-ID so that it could be used to make the communication faster with concerned departments. Due to lack of facility in the gram panchayat and odd geographical conditions the development process was being hampered. The official said that gram panchayats in tribal areas are likely to be benefited the most from this move.
However, at the same time it is worthwhile to mention here that even if the idea is fascinating there are more than 200 panchayat that did not have their own panchayat building and many of them were running without proper power supply. These are the things that need to be sorted out first.
