Shimla (April 18): Tax collection was the biggest single financial resource of the country and the state and it was the duty of the Officers of excise and taxation officials to judiciously deal with tax collection matters. This was stated by JC Sharma, commissioner-cum-secretary (E&T) while inaugurating a two-day training workshop for excise & taxation officers organised by HP Judicial Academy, here today. As many as 29 ETOs and AETOs from over the state participated in the workshop.
He complimented the officers for satisfactory performance in collection of tax revenues and stressed upon the importance of training programme which would be helpful to excel themselves while handling technical and legal aspects of revenue collection particularly relating to VAT and excise. He said training sharpens skills and enhance work efficiency with latest mode of working. He asked the Officers to update themselves with latest techniques and come up to the satisfaction of the public they were dealing with.
Director, HP Judicial Academy SL Sharma said the Academy was imparting training to the officers of excise & taxation for the first time. He said five more training programmes would be organised up to May end this year and 150 officers would be given training.
