Kokje addresses inaugural assembly session at D’sala

Dharamsala: Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha added another chapter to its history on Friday when Governor VS Kokje addressed the inaugural session of the newly-elected House at Tapovan here on Friday. This was the first time that the opening session of the new state assembly was held outside Shimla.
Elaborating the state government’s plans, Kokje said that election manifesto has been made a policy document and policies of different department would be formulated and implemented in accordance with the manifesto. Focusing primarily on the financial front, he said the government would lay emphasis on cutting down wasteful expenditure in view of the huge debt of Rs 22,000 crore the government inherited. The governor said the government would make all efforts to general additional resources for the development of the state and as well being of the poor and deprived ones.
Kokje said the government was committed to eradicate corruption and provide clean, corruption-free and responsive governance. He said that state government would make efforts to provide employment in private sector including industrial units, hydel projects, cement plants, tourism sector, etc. He said the government would formulate a plan to improve the economic condition of farmers by tapping state’s immense potential for all-season vegetables, cash crops and floriculture.
