Five policemen suspended



Solan (Apr 9): Five policemen and one home guard jawan have been suspended as two inmates kept under police remand succeeded in escaping from custody after breaking the lock of their cell on Friday.

ASP Baddi Gurdev Chand said that ASI Amarjeet Singh, head constable Awatar Singh constable Iswar, Ajay and Gurbakash Singh and home guard Jawan Yoshvinder Singh were guarding the police lock-up on Thursday night. He said that two member of a burglar gang (involved in 17 burglaries in Baddi-Barotiwala and Nalagarh industrial areas), namely Raju and Viras (duo were real brother), arrested from Muradabad district of UP after lot of hard work on April 4, 2011, managed to break the lock in the intervening night of April 7 and 8 and fled away.  The two were in police remand for eight days after 5 motor-cycles were recovered from them.
