Five die, 16 injured as truck overturns



Una (Apr 8): Five pilgrims were killed and 16 others injured as an open truck carrying 60 pilgrims from Nawanshahr district of Punjab to Baba Balaknath in Himachal Pradesh toppled near Pirnigah shrine under Bangana police station last night, a senior police officer said.

ASP Una KG Kapoor said that five persons died on the spot and 16 others were injured in the accident. The accident occurred at around 11.30 pm last night when ill-fated truck (PB-06-2640) turned turtle on the plane road as the driver could not control the speeding vehicle. The injured were rushed to Regional Hospital, Una, and three of them were reported to be critical.
