Shimla: The historic Ridge Maidan was witness to another landmark event on Sunday as Prem Kumar Dhumal took oath as the 16th chief minister of Himachal Pradesh after Bharatiya Janata Party registered its most comprehensive victory in the state assembly elections ever.
Swarmed by a huge crowd of BJP supporters, the Ridge, in a way, reflected saffron resurgence in the state, as was evident by the number of top BJP leaders present at the swearing-in ceremony. Among those present included BJP’s future prime ministerial candidate LK Advani and chief ministers of three states ruled by the party and its allies. Other BJP leaders present included Shanta Kumar, Satyapal Jain Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Pratap Singh Ruddi.
The day also turned out to be a treat for New Year revelers as they witnessed cultural programmes specially arranged for the occasion. What added colour to the performances were BJP supporters joining in every now and then. But before the event ended, the visitors also had a taste of what can go wrong in the Queen of Hills as  traffic jams were seen at a number of places after people dispersed from the Ridge with some BJP supporters also holding victory processions through the city roads.

  1. Congratulations of Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal, on his victory. He is a great socialogist, still a teacher at heart. We wish him a very successful tenure as CM.

But a word of caution, a trend has emerged in HP, that change the govt. after every 5 years if they do not work exceedingly well.

Hence he and his team has to be near to his voters, do something for every group of people, develope Industry in the state to increase Revenue and Enployment Generation for HP Youths, donot ignore constituencies which have voted for INC, increase on Public Relations.

There is ample scope for, Hydro Electric Power, IT, Education, Hospitality, Agro-based Industry in HP. He must impress on the Central Govt. to Bring in Railway line to which areas possible in Himachal, Build Roads, Provide cheaper housing, the list seams endless.

Hope he does a good job, in over all interest of all Himachalis and their development. – SS Jaryal
