Dharamsala (Apr 4): With a view to promote rural sports and to encourage the youth, private firm Hero Honda is organizing tournaments in Himachal Pradesh under a campaign named “Har gawon har angan mein”.
Under this series, the final cricket match was played at Kangra stadium between Kangra and Dharamsala teams. Kangra team won the match by six wickets. The match was played for 20-20 overs, in which Dharamsala scored 143 runs playing first.
The captain of the team said that this was a very appreciative step by the company and we wish that the government and other public sector organizations should also take such initiatives as it helps youngsters.
Neeraj Kumar, SDM Kangra, was the chief guest on the occasion and said, “Cricket has become a religion and this is the only platform where youth can play and earn, thus I appreciate the sports persons and the organizers of the event.” Akshay Kumar, Officials of the company, said that this was their first step to included cricket under the programme and would continue further with such type of social activities.
