Dharamsala (March 31): A loan scheme amounting Rs 1,436 crore was launched today by the Kangra deputy commissioner for the year 2011-12. Rs 1,228 crore has been fixed for areas of main concern and 208 crore for rest of the areas.
Deputy commissioner RS Gupta said that earlier 1,078 crore loans for the year 2011-12 were set for the district, but the target for this has been achieved in the current financial year. The DC has instructed the banks to issue more credit cards to the farmers because 4 to 7 per cent interest has been fixed on these cards, which are highly beneficial to farmers for meeting their daily needs for agriculture. The state has included agriculture and micro-small scale industries in its priority areas for which Rs 435 crore has been reserved for agriculture.
