Snowfall on higher reaches of Himachal

Shimla (Mar 30): High reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced light to moderate spell of snowfall, while downstream areas were lashed with widespread rain or wind and thundershowers last night, with prevailing inclement weather conditions bringing down mercury by two to three degrees.

Keylong in Lahaul Spiti recorded 4 cm snowfall and Kalpa 2.5 cm in Kinnuar district of the state. Mehre in Hamirpur had  32 mm rainfall, Bharwain in Bilaspur 27 mm, Bangana in Una 25 mm, Una 22 mm, Rampur in Shimla 16 mm, Ghamroor in Kangra, Rohru in Shimla & Kahu in Hamirpur 15 mm each. Rajgarh in Sirmaur & Gohar in Mandi 14 mm each, Karsog in Mandi & Pachhad in Sirmour 13 mm each, Manali in Kullu 12 mm, Mandi 11 mm Udaipur in Lahaul Spiti, Shimla, Jubbarhatti in Shimla 10 mm each; Solan, Bhuntar in Kullu,  Tissa in Chamba, Dehra Gopipur in Kangra & Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur 8 mm each; Pandoh in Mandi, Sunni Bhajji in Shimla, Baldwara in Mandi, Berthin in Bialspur & Nadaun in Hamirpur 7 mm each.

Minimum Temperature of Keylong was minus 2.6 degree Celsius, Kalpa zero degrees, Shimla 5.1 degrees, Bhuntar 7.5 degrees, Solan 8.6 degrees, Palampur and Sundernagar 9 degrees, Dharamsala 10.5 degrees, Mandi 11 degrees, Una 12 degrees and  Nahan 20.3 degrees.

The Met office said rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated parts in middle hills and rain or snow in high reaches in the foothills during next 24 hours.
